Manual to Automatic Lessons
Manual to Automatic Lessons

Plenty of learners start in a manual and get stuck on the clutch. Stalling at a junction with a queue behind knocks a lot of learners' confidence, and it has nothing to do with whether they can drive safely. Switching to an automatic takes the clutch and gears out of the picture, so lessons can focus on what the test actually marks: observation, planning, positioning and judgement.
Learners who have had manual lessons elsewhere don't start again from zero. The first lesson with Waleed is an assessment drive in his 2017 automatic Toyota Yaris. He checks what is already solid and what needs work, then plans the lessons around the gaps, so nobody pays to relearn what they can already do.
One thing to know before switching: passing in an automatic gives you a licence for automatic cars only. That suits most people now, since most newer cars, hybrids and electric cars are automatic. Anyone who needs to drive a manual later would need to pass a second test in one.
Every learner Waleed has taken on has passed, and 92% passed first time. Tests are taken at Reading test centre in Whitley.
